our
approach
At IBTU, we meet people where they are—providing critical resources like food, safety, and community support that address the core needs of human potential. Guided by a framework based on Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs, our services are focused on ensuring the stability, dignity, and empowerment of every individual.
We prioritize the following key areas:
Physiological: Food Distribution, Healthcare Services, Hygiene Essentials
Safety: Case Management, Linkage Services, Local Police Partnerships
Esteem: Youth Programs, Workshops, Adult Programming
Belongingness: Community Events, Consistent Presence, Volunteer Engagement
Founded in 2020, IBTU was born out of a vision to address the pressing challenges of poverty and discrimination in South Los Angeles. What started as a community-driven response has evolved into a robust platform for sustainable change. We work hand-in-hand with low-income youth and families, offering essential resources and support through our food and resource distribution programs, education initiatives, and community-building events.
Through this holistic, relationship-first approach, IBTU empowers individuals to break the cycles of poverty, embrace self-sufficiency, and create flourishing communities.
